By creating an account or using Write For Keeps, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use our service.

Account Registration

When you create an account with Write For Keeps, you must:

• Provide accurate and complete information
• Keep your account information updated
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Be at least 18 years of age

You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.

Service Description

Write For Keeps is a permanent journaling platform that allows you to:

• Create journal entries (text, photos, videos, audio)
• Share your journal via a permanent URL
• Control privacy settings (Pro users)
• Purchase Lifetime Access for full features with one-time payment

Free Plan

• 365 text-only entries per year
• Random URL (e.g., writeforkeeps.com/u/random123)
• Public entries only
• 60-minute grace period for edits/deletions
• Entries become permanent after grace period

Pro Plan

• Unlimited entries with media uploads
• Custom handle (e.g., writeforkeeps.com/u/yourname)
• Account and entry-level privacy controls
• 24-hour grace period for edits/deletions
• Edit entries anytime (marked as "Edited")
• Delete entries (marked as "REDACTED" but remain in timeline)

Lifetime Access

• One-time $45 payment for full access forever
• All Pro features included (unlimited entries, media, custom handle, privacy)
• No recurring payments
• Perfect for users who want to support the platform long-term

Entry Permanence

Core Principle: Write For Keeps is built on permanence. Once the grace period expires:

• Free Users: Entries cannot be edited or deleted
• Pro Users: Entries can be edited (transparently marked) or redacted (instead of deleted), but original timestamps and timeline are preserved

This permanence is a fundamental feature of Write For Keeps, not a bug.

User Responsibilities

You agree to:

• Use Write For Keeps only for lawful purposes
• Not post spam, sales content, or promotional material
• Not post content that violates others' rights (harassment, hate speech, doxxing, explicit content)
• Respect intellectual property rights
• Not attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts or systems
• Not abuse or exploit the platform

Prohibited Content

You may not post content that:

• Is spam, salesy, or promotional
• Contains hate speech, harassment, or threats
• Is explicit or inappropriate
• Violates others' privacy (doxxing)
• Infringes on intellectual property rights
• Violates any applicable laws

Violations may result in content removal, visibility limits, or account termination.

Privacy and Data

• Your entries belong to you
• We respect your privacy settings (Pro users)
• Private entries are only visible to you
• We do not sell your data or entries

Payment and Subscriptions

• Pro Plan: Monthly or annual subscription, billed automatically
• Lifetime Access: One-time $45 payment for full access forever
• Payments are processed securely through our payment provider
• Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis
• You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time
• Cancellation does not delete your account or entries

Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

• Violate these Terms of Service
• Engage in illegal activities
• Abuse or exploit the platform
• Fail to pay required fees (Pro users)

You may delete your account at any time, subject to our permanence principles regarding published entries.

Limitation of Liability

Write For Keeps is provided "as is" and "as available." We are not liable for:

• Indirect or consequential damages
• Loss of profits or data
• Service interruptions or technical issues
• Content you post or decisions you make

Intellectual Property

• You retain ownership of your journal entries
• You grant Write For Keeps a license to store, display, and serve your entries as part of the service
• Write For Keeps' platform, design, and features are our intellectual property

Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms of Service at any time. Continued use of Write For Keeps after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms. We will notify you of significant changes.

Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by applicable laws without regard to conflicts of law principles.
